A well-established transportation and fleet services operation is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to oversee shop operations while performing advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on tractor and trailer equipment. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are consistently met.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel tractors and trailers
- Perform preventative maintenance and major component rebuilds
- Lead and assign daily workload to shop mechanics
- Review and complete detailed work orders (condition, cause, correction)
- Manage parts ordering and ensure availability for scheduled repairs
- Oversee warranty processes and documentation accuracy
- Conduct failure analysis to prevent recurring issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant shop environment
- Identify safety concerns, equipment issues, and process improvements
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) required
- Experience in diesel truck and trailer maintenance OR technical certification in heavy-duty diesel repair
- Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting experience
- Prior leadership or lead mechanic experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and repair procedures
