Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician

Help create customized medications that make a difference. We are seeking a detail-oriented Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys precision, follows procedures with care, and takes pride in producing high-quality pharmaceutical preparations in a fast-paced environment.


Position Summary

As a Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will prepare customized medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist while following established quality standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements. Your work will directly support the delivery of safe, accurate medications for patients and healthcare providers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Compound non-sterile medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and blend pharmaceutical ingredients according to batch records and formulation instructions
  • Prepare a variety of dosage forms, including solutions, capsules, powders, gels, chew treats, and made-to-stock preparations
  • Ensure each preparation is properly labeled and documented with complete batch records
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and pharmacy regulations
  • Meet daily production and quality goals while maintaining exceptional accuracy
  • Maintain organized work areas and adhere to all safety and contamination control procedures
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including lab coats, gloves, eye protection, and respirators as required
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and communicate recommendations to supervisors
  • Cross-train in multiple compounding areas to support operational needs


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in science or healthcare is a plus
  • Previous pharmacy, pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratory, or compounding experience preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician certification is highly desirable
  • Must obtain New Jersey Pharmacy Technician registration if not already registered
  • Strong math, reading, and spelling skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work procedures
  • Dependable, accountable, and team-oriented


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift 20–50 pounds
  • Comfortable working around pharmaceutical ingredients while following established safety protocols
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators when necessary
