Job Summary

A well-established, industry-leading manufacturing and distribution organization is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance operations in Hagerstown, MD. This role is responsible for overseeing mechanics and maintenance staff while ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and operational excellence.


The Maintenance Manager will manage the day-to-day repair and preventative maintenance of fixed assets within our treatment plants, diesel engines, trucks, trailers, and forklifts. We are looking for a leader who sets the example, drives performance through data, and fosters a culture of safety and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce safety standards and ensure adherence to all established protocols (PPE, Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, etc.)
  • Lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to track work orders and KPIs
  • Analyze downtime, maintenance costs, and reliability metrics
  • Report on performance metrics to senior management

Preventative Maintenance

  • Monitor and maintain accurate preventative maintenance records
  • Ensure all maintenance deadlines and compliance standards are met

Equipment Maintenance

  • Supervise repairs and preventative maintenance for treatment of plant equipment, diesel engines, trucks, trailers, and forklifts
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are completed on schedule

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage relationships with local suppliers and equipment vendors

Inventory Management

  • Oversee parts inventory through weekly cycle counts
  • Conduct slow-moving parts audits
  • Perform monthly full physical inventories

Technical Support

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with pumps, valves, motors, mechanical systems, rollers and chains, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems

Continuous Improvement

  • Implement strategies to improve equipment reliability
  • Recommend upgrades or replacements for aging machinery


Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma required
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school certificate preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance supervisory experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
