Technical Program Manager (Military Aviation / GSE Tooling)


A global aerospace support solutions organization is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support military engine tooling and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) programs. This role combines deep technical expertise with customer support, OEM coordination, and cross-functional program leadership supporting complex aviation maintenance operations.

Based in the greater Boston area, this position plays a critical role in supporting military engine programs, technical issue resolution, tooling configuration management, and consultative customer support initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain customized tooling and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) recommendations based on customer operational and maintenance requirements
  • Review and validate tooling configurations, part number updates, work scope changes, and operational readiness data
  • Serve as a technical liaison between customers, suppliers, internal teams, and OEM engineering organizations
  • Support technical issue resolution processes involving tooling specifications, blueprint interpretation, maintenance practices, and OEM documentation
  • Conduct technical reviews related to design changes, tooling compatibility, and operational impacts
  • Provide technical support for sourcing, quality, aftermarket services, and sales teams
  • Support certification-related activities including CE/UKCA documentation and product data validation
  • Assist with customer visits, OEM campaigns, and tooling support initiatives as required

  • Military aviation engine maintenance operations
  • Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and aviation tooling
  • OEM technical publications, blueprints, and maintenance documentation
  • Technical issue resolution and configuration management
  • Cross-functional engineering and customer support coordination


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent hands-on industry experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in aviation tooling, GSE, engine maintenance, or related technical environments preferred
  • Prior experience supporting military turbofan or turbojet engine programs strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of aviation maintenance operations, tooling applications, and support equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and OEM manuals
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving and project coordination experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems required
  • U.S. Citizenship required
